Central Landfill Hosts Eco-Depot Today

The Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation is hosting a collection drive for household hazardous waste.

  The Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (RIRRC) of Johnston is scheduled to host an Eco-Depot collection drive today, where Rhode Island residents can drop off their electronic and household hazardous waste (HHW). Today's collections is scheduled at the Central Landfill in Johnston starting at 8 a.m. Appointments are required to drop off HHW at both locations. Examples of household waste include dead florescent light bulbs, used motor oil and oil filters, old radiator coolant, remnant oil-based paint, mercury thermostats, mercury thermometers, leftover bug spray and unwanted lawn chemicals, RIRRC noted in a press release. New Eco-Depot Events Announced For March

Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation announced its collection drives for household hazardous waste (HHW) during the month.

The following is a press release from Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation. Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (RIRRC) is giving state residents three opportunities to rid their homes of household hazardous waste at the Central Landfill this month. The Eco-Depot collections, a free service provided only to Rhode Island residents, will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on March 3, 10 and 17. Rhode Islanders are encouraged to attend the drop-off collections at the RIRRC headquarters at 65 Shun Pike, Johnston, where RIRRC officials will accept and dispose of their household hazardous waste.  Household hazardous waste is collected separately from the state’s Central Landfill in order to protect humans, animals and the local environment…
