Whole Foods Recalls Market Salmon

The product may contain Listeria Monocytogenes.

Whole Foods Market is recalling one lot of its Whole Catch Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon because it may contain Listeria Monocytogenes. The organism may “cause a sometimes fatal infection in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer short-term symptoms, such as high fever, severe headaches, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women,” according to the FDA. The 4-ounce salmon packages are either cold smoked or sliced and were sold in 12 states, including Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
