Johnston Council Approves Requirement for Covers on Trash Bins [POLL]
In response to a rat problem in some parts of town, the Johnston Town Council passed an ordinance mandating covers for trash bins at all local homes.
Homeowners and residents of Johnston are now required to cover their trash bins, under an ordinance passed by the Johnston Town Council last week. Following complaints of rats in several areas of town, councilors unanimously approved a new ordinance that would cut off trash service to repeat offenders of the new rule, the Johnston Sun Rise reported. During the Nov. 20 meeting at Johnston Municipal Court, the newspaper noted, Councilman David Santilli (D-Dist. 3) said that he'd recieved many complaints over the summer, and Council Vice President Stephanie Manzi (D-Dist. 5) proposed language, also approved by unanimous vote, that requires residents to bag their trash before placing it in bins.
