All government offices, schools and libraries are closed today for the observance of Thanksgiving Day; most businesses are open for limited hours.
Today is the observance of Thanksgiving, the holiday commemorating the Pilgrims' arrival in America, first celebrated in 1621 in Plymouth, MA. All federal, state, and Johnston government buildings and offices are closed today. There will be no mail service. Johnston schools are closed, as well. Johnston Town Hall and local schools will also be closed tomorrow, Nov. 23. Trash and recycling pickup will be delayed one day, with Thursday's collection moved to Friday, and Friday's pickup set for Saturday.
