Readers' Choice: Best Spot for Mother's Day Brunch

Mother's Day is just two weeks away, which means it's time to start brainstorming that perfect way to say "Thanks, Mom."

A homemade card or a new necklace are sure to delight Mom on Mother's Day [it's on May 13, by the way] but so, too, will a nice meal at a local restaurant. This week, we want to know: Which local restaurant offers the best Mother's Day Brunch? Is it Luigi's Gourmet on Hartford Avenue, or J & D Family Restaurant on Putnam Pike? Vote in our poll below, then share your thoughts in the comments section. If we left your favorite brunch spot off the list, note that in the comments as well. We'll leave the poll up all week then close voting at 9 a.m. Friday. At noon that day, we'll share your top local pick. Then be …

Readers' Choice: Best Sandwich in Johnston

What's your favorite place to grab one in Johnston?

A sandwich is a quick-and-easy meal, and on most menus, it's the most reliable pick when you're not sure about the other food. It's also usually the cheapest thing you can order. But as easy as it is to make a great sandwich, only a few places offer a truly awe-inspiring sandwich. This week, we want to know: Which restaurant or deli serves up the best sandwich in Johnston? Around here, we've got a wide range of places, both on the main drags of Atwood and Hartford Avenues, as well as in some of the nooks along Killingly Street and Putnam Pike. Do you support the little guy? In Johnston, you can find a homey atmosphere at …
