Joseph F. Butmarc: Army Reserve Veteran

The Johnston resident passed away on Nov. 4, 2012.

  Joseph F. (Abbatamarco) Butmarc, 71, passed away peacefully, Sunday Nov. 4, 2012 at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband for 47 years of Dorothy M. (Price) Butmarc. He was born in Providence, a son of the late Anthony and Bessie (Cardillo) Butmarc. Mr. Butmarc was a chemical operator for the Ciba-Geigy Co. for 20 years and the Clariant Co. for 20 years retiring in 2008. He was in the Army Reserve during the Vietnam era and was a drill instructor with the rank of E-7. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Ann D. Marjorie R. (Stone) Pelan: Ferri Middle School Food Service Employee

The Johnston resident passed away on Oct. 10, 2012.

  Marjorie R. (Stone) Pelan, 88, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 at Cortland Place in Smithfield. She was the beloved wife of Howard D. Pelan for over 70 years. She was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Mildred W. (Sunderland) Stone. She worked as a clerk for the former City Hall Hardware for 5 years and then for the school lunch program at Ferri Middle School in Johnston for 20 years before retiring. Mrs. Pelan was a longtime Johnston resident and a member of the Greenville Grange. Marjorie was a devoted mother, daughter and daughter in-law and devoted her life to the care of her family. Liberato A. "Bobo" Pallotta Jr.: Army Veteran of the Korean War

The Johnston resident passed away on Oct. 7, 2012.

  Liberato A. "Bobo" Pallotta Jr., 83, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Evelyn C. (Swanson) Pallotta. Mr. Pallotta was born in Providence, a son of the late Liberato A. and Theresa (Simone) Pallotta. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and had lived in Johnston over for 50 years. He was a mechanic and service manager at the Motor Mart Auto Sales in South Attleboro, MA, for 45 years before retiring in 2009. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters Joyce L. Pallotta of Johnston, and Carol L. Botelho, her husband Edward, and their children Tori and Jake of Smithfield. Anne E. (DeAngelis) Zanni

The Johnston resident passed away on Aug. 7, 2012.

  Anne E. (DeAngelis) Zanni, 88, of Greenville Avenue, Johnston, beloved wife of the late Lawrence Zanni with whom she shared 69 years of marriage, passed peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Turchetta) DeAngelis. Anne is survived and loved by her children, Lorna and Leonard Solitro, Donna and Blaise Marfeo and Susan Bissanti and Anthony Sciarra; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Lillian Fusco, Joseph, John and Albert DeAngelis. A fantastic cook and baker, Anne enjoyed fashion, shopping and Saturdays entertaining family and friends with her famous meatballs. Muriel May Winchell

A memorial service for the retired Johnston teacher is scheduled for Apr. 14.

Muriel M. (Benson) Winchell, 88, a resident of Scituate for 56 years, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012. She was the wife of the late Charles F. Winchell and daughter of the late Frederick and Ethel (Phelan) Winchell. Mrs. Winchell was a teacher for the Johnston School Department for 30 years before retiring. She was also a column writer for the Society Section of the Providence Journal for a short time. She was a life member of the Scituate Art Festival Committee and also participated as an artist. She was a member and participated in many social activities of Shepherd of the Valley Church. She was a 1944 graduate of R.I. College of Education and loved to travel.
