Johnston Mobster Gets 4 Years

Alfred “Chippy” Scivola, Jr. was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for shaking down Providence strip clubs.

Alfred “Chippy” Scivola, Jr., 71, of Johnston, an admitted member of the New England La Cosa Nostra, was sentenced today to 46 months in federal prison for his role in a racketeering and extortion conspiracy to shakedown Providence-area adult entertainment businesses for protection money, the FBI announced Thursday. U.S. District Court Judge William E. Smith also sentenced Scivola to serve three years of probation after his imprisonment. Scivola pleaded guilty on March 3 to conspiracy to participate in a racketeering enterprise. Scivola admitted to a conspiracy with other members of the organized crime syndicate to demand and collect cash protection payments from several adult entertainment businesses in Providence.
