JPD Promotes Four Officers

Four Johnston Police Officers started the new year with new ranks.

Four Johnston Police Officers rose in rank last week after a promotion ceremony at the Municipal Courthouse. "It is a happy New Year for the four officers here," said Dep. Chief David DeCesare. Promoted were: Mark Bairos, to the rank of sergeant. Barios joined JPD in 2004 after working as a correctional officer for for years before that. As a member of the force, he's worked on the second watch patrol division, response team and is expected to get his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Roger Williams University. Steven Guilmette, to the rank of lieutenant. A longtime Johnston resident, Guilmette is a Marine Corps veteran and worked as a corrections officer for eight years before coming to JPD.
