Here's a look at the recent polls on JohnstonPatch — and how readers responded.
Readers of JohnstonPatch said they planned not to shop on Black Friday, and a majority agreed that Rep. John Carnevale, recently indicted on sexual assault charges, should step down. Most voters in a recent poll on holiday giving also said they planned to do something for the less fortunate, with most donating food; and majorities of readers said Rhode Island could do more to prevent drunk driving. (Results are as of 1 p.m. on Nov. 29.) Of 113 voters in our recent poll on whether they'd brave the Black Friday crowds to shop, 91 (80 percent) said they weren't going to do any of their holiday shopping that day. Following Rep. In by far the largest poll response yet, we collected 638 votes (as of 4 p.m. yesterday) on whether Penn State should fire Joe Paterno, with 467, or 73 percent, saying the school should let him go in light of the sexual abuse scandal…

Here's a look at the recent polls on JohnstonPatch — and how readers responded.
Our readers want to see outdoor track return to JohnstonHigh School, and support the fire union's challenges to town efforts to review their pensions — plus, they've started turning on their heat; they like their Dunkin' Donuts coffee; think the town was right to chase water bill deadbeats; and gave the Class of 2014 the win in this year's Homecoming float competition. In recent polls here on JohnstonPatch, we received 79 votes (as of 4 p.m. yesterday) on our question about whether the fire union should be challenging the town's review of their pensions, with 2 out of 3 (52 to 27 votes) saying the pensions were awarded legitimately. We got the next-highest vote count on our poll about bringing outdoor track back to Johnston High School — …
