Johnston Police reported the following accidents this week: Disoriented driver: A local officer responded to the Burger King on Atwood Avenue on Aug. 26 at 1 pm to find a 94-year-old man behind the wheel of a car that had just struck the restaurant. Ptlm. Mark Bairos reported that the driver, identified as John Capobianco, of Bradley Street, Providence, said his foot slipped off the brake pedal, causing the car to roll into the building. Capobianco appeared to be "mildly disoriented," wrote Bairos, who added that when he asked Capobianco who was President, he replied: "Roosevelt." Johnston Fire and Rescue personnel brought Capobianco to Fatima Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was not charged in the accident. Vacant car: …

DUI Charge Following Accident: Johnston Police charged George E. Camera, 59, of 1 Cherry Hill Road, with one count of DUI, first offense on Feb. 1 after his car reportedly hit the side of the Walgreen's Pharmacy at 1583 Atwood Ave. Ptlm. Matthew Leveillee wrote in his report that he and two other officers responded to the scene with fire and rescue personnel at about 7:45 p.m. and met with the store owner, Lester Miller. Miller told the officers that he had heard a loud noise from outside the building "which sounded to him like a vehicle had hit the building," Leveillee reported. Assault, disorderly conduct: Johnston Police arrested Michael J. Todaro, 26, of 185 Providence St., West Warwick, on a charge of simple assault or battery and disorderly conduct on Jan. 6. Sgts. David Alverson and Seth Crosby, and Ptlmn. Matthew Winsor, Stephen Altomari, and Jeffrey Fryer responded to a call of a man being chased by a woman and a man in the parking lot of Dunkin' Donuts at 1999 Plainfield St. around 2 p.m. on Jan. 6. Fryer reported that he spoke with the victim, who was bleeding from the mouth and stated that his friend, Todaro, allegedly “sucker-punched” him after attempting to go after the victim’s wife, according to Fryer’s report. Steven Barone, of Cranston, faces charges of credit card fraud and receiving stolen goods.
Johnston Police arrested Steve Barone, of 15 Usher Ave., Cranston, on two outstanding court warrants for credit card fraud on Oct. 24 after officers reportedly found Barone hiding inside the wall of a service station on Plainfield Street. Lt. Robert Abbruzzese, Sgt. Megan Boulet, and Ptlmn. Derek Parascandolo and Stephen Altomari went to Competitive Auto Body, located at 1707 Plainfield St., to find Barone, who was "known to rent a garage bay" there, according to Parascandolo's report. As the officers began looking for Barone, the station's owner Arcangelo Dibiasio arrived and told them that one of his tenants had called to report police on the property. Deer hit on Plainfield Street: On Oct. 18, Jason Loyd went to the Johnston Police Department to report an accident that occurred earlier that day. Loyd stated that at approximately 5:45 a.m., he was traveling east on Plainfield Street when two deer ran in front of his pick-up truck. Loyd told police that he tried to avoid hitting the deer, but his truck struck one of the deer, which ran into the woods and could not be located. Loyd's pick up truck sustained damage to the front end and bumper area. Two B&Es Reported: Johnston Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering on Oct. 18 at about 5 p.m. at 60 Greenville Ave., Apt. #2. Panarello, 66, of 1418 Park Ave., Cranston, on a charge of disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana, first offense, resisting legal or illegal arrest, driving in possession of a controlled substance, and presence of alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle. Panarello was reportedly driving a yellow Ford Mustang with commercial plates on Atwood Avenue around 7 p.m. on July 20. As Lt. Finest find feathered friend Johnston police officers helped reunite a woman with her beloved companion, a 4-year-old parrot, after the two were separated for about a month. The woman loaned her parrot to a West Warwick woman for a one-night trial. The West Warwick woman said she was considering buying her own. When she didn’t return the parrot the next day, the owner went looking for her. When she couldn’t contact the woman, and didn’t know the whereabouts of the parrot, she turned to West Warwick police, the ASPCA and finally the Johnston Police Department. Johnston detectives got involved, went to the West Warwick home and saw a parrot inside the house. They were eventually successful in getting the woman to admit the parrot was not …

Larcenies from construction site: Thieves allegedly stole about $2,000 worth of tools and cords from an electrical power line construction site between June 18 and 20. Johnston Police Patrolman John D. DeAngelis responded to a report of larcenies at the wooded area between Hartford Avenue and Belfied Drive, where workers are in the process of installing new telephone poles for the electrical power lines. When DeAngelis arrived on June 20, an employee from Tri-State Drilling met with him along with an employee from Longfellow Drilling Company. Alleged threat to cop leads to arrest: Michael J. Romano of 6 Frances Ave., was arrested on a charge of simple assault and battery, resisting legal or illegal arrest, and disorderly conduct. On June 17, Romano allegedly walked up to the passenger side of Johnston Police Patrolman Luca A. Lancellotti Jr.’s police cruiser as he was working a traffic detail, and began banging on the passenger window with his cane. As he was banging on the window, Romano was also yelling at Lancellotti. Lancellotti got out of the cruiser and approached Romano to find out what was wrong. Off-duty officer aids in pot arrest: Steven Rodi, of 1360 Atwood Ave., was arrested on June 4 for possession of marijuana and Vicodin after an off-duty Johnston Police officer observed him in possession of the narcotics. Patrolman Joseph McGinn, who was off-duty at the time, used his cell phone to call Johnston Patrolman Derrick Palazzo and report that he saw a white male in a black Lexus place a green leafy substance into a flattened cigar "blunt," according to Palazzo’s report. The Lexus was parked in the parking lot of the Gulf Express at 1180 Atwood Ave. Palazzo arrived at the parking lot and approached the black Lexus.
