Early in the year, Johnston Police charged Donald Greenslit with multiple felonies in the death of Greenslit's girlfriend, Stacey Dorego. Johnston Fire Chief Timothy McLaughlin said the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
No injuries were reported following a late afternoon fire at 14 Harboard Road, off Hartford Avenue, on Tuesday afternoon. Fire Chief Timothy McLaughlin said the single-family home was vacant at the time of the blaze, around 5 pm. "When [Johnston Fire crews] arrived, there was heavy fire in the garage area — at first, they couldn't find it," McLaughlin explained at the scene. "It traveled up into the top of the garage and it was making its way into the attic space. The guys did a great job stopping it — it stayed within the garage into the attic." McLaughlin estimated that "it took about 20 to 25 minutes to extinguish the blaze," and added that the cause is still under investigation.

Jessica Collins, 31, of North Providence, faces three felony charges after her ex-husband told Johnston Police that she drove her van into a car driven by his girlfriend's mother.
Johnston Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a North Providence woman suspected of driving her vehicle into another car and damaging a mailbox at Metro Collision Center on Putnam Pike. Jessica Collins, 31, of North Providence, is being sought by police after her ex-husband reported on Sept. 28 that Collins had tried to hit him with her Dodge Caravan before striking the car driven by his girlfriend's mother. Johnston Fire Chief Timothy McLaughlin said the early-morning fire caused "extensive" damage to the roof.
An early-morning blaze at Johnston Memorial Park left the recreation department's office with "extensive damage to the roof, and water and smoke [damage] throughout the building," according to Fire Chief Timothy McLaughlin, reached via text message this morning. McLaughlin also said that the fire was apparently caused by an electrical malfunction inside the building, which includes offices for the parks and recreation department and storage areas for equipment. Lance Nicoletti, 26, of Smithfield, faces a first-degree molestation charge following his arrest by Johnston Police on Aug. 24.
A bail hearing is scheduled today for the Smithfield man accused of molesting a four-year-old girl in Johnston. Johnston Police arrested Lance Nicoletti, 26, on Aug. 24 following what officers described as a "disturbance" at a local home. Nicoletti is currently being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions, Cranston, for violating terms of probation set for an earlier charge of making crank or obscene phone calls. A pre-arraignment conference is scheduled for Oct. 26 on the felony charge. UPDATE: The case has been continued until a new bail hearing on Oct. 2.

A Johnston man faces multiple charges after Johnston Police say he hit an officer who tried to take him into custody on a charge of violating a no-contact order. Samuel Cardarelli, 43, of 4 Naples Ave., was already scheduled to appear in Third District Court, Warwick, on Friday on a previous count of violating a no-contact order. In the recent incident, Ptlm. Remy Mendez wrote that he went to Cardarelli's home just after midnight on Saturday and spoke with Cardarelli's wife, who said that Cardarelli "became upset" with another person who was not identified in police reports. A Johnston man faces felony charges of leaving the scene of an accident, driving under the influence, and DUI leading to serious injury, following his arrest by Johnston Police on July 15. Daniel Booth, 36, of 23 Country View Drive, told officers that he didn't remember being involved in the hit-and-run accident that injured Raymond Lawson, 41, of Cranston, according to police reports. Andrew Poland, 26, faces a misdemeanor charge of receiving stolen goods after he tried to scrap four brass vases from Highland Memorial Park.
Following the second report of brass graveside vases being stolen from Highland Memorial Park since April, Johnston Police reported the arrest of a Johnston man after he tried to sell four vases for scrap. Officers charged Andrew Poland, 26, of 273 Greenville Ave., with a misdemeanor count of receiving stolen goods on Tuesday following an investigation into the apparent theft of 40 ceremonial vases from the cemetery. A Johnston man was ordered held at the ACI following his arrest on a felony assault charge on June 17.
Johnston Police reported this week that they arrested a local man on domestic assault charges, leading the state Attorney General's office to charge him as a probation violator. Lennard Johnson, 28, of 20 Park St., Apt. 130, was serving a four-year suspended sentence and four years' probation for two previous convictions on June 17, when officers responded to the corner of Park Street and Atwood Avenue to investigate a report of a disturbance. Johnston Police charged a Warwick woman on DUI charges following the two-car collision on Sunday night.
A 19-year-old Warwick woman faces a DUI charge, one count of refusing to submit to a breath test, and one count of driving without a license following a two-car collision on Sunday night that sent three people to Rhode Island Hospital. According to Johnston Police, the Nissan Altima driven by Gabrielle M. Henry, 19, of 163 Pettis Drive, Warwick, was traveling east on Plainfield Street at about 8 pm when it collided with the Toyota SUV driven by Maria Rodriquez of Providence in the westbound lane.
