JPD: Scituate High-Speed Chase Suspects Stole Car from Johnston

The two men also admitted to vandalizing a concession stand at Johnston Memorial Park, according to police.

  Johnston Police issued their report on the arrests of two men involved in the theft of the car used in a high-speed chase on Sept. 12, and a break-in at Johnston Memorial Park three days earlier. Andrew Clay, 18, of Johnston, and Nicholas Winfield, 21, of Cranston, face multiple felony charges including car theft, breaking and entering, and conspiracy following the police investigation. The two men admitted to taking a wallet and credit cards from the home before trying to use the credit cards at stores around Johnston, according to police reports, and admitted to vandalizing a concession stand at Memorial Park prior to the home burglary. Passenger in High-Speed Chase Faces Multiple Charges

Johnston resident Andrew Clay, 18, faces charges filed by four police departments after his arrest on Sept. 12.

  Four police departments — including Johnston Police — filed charges against an 18-year-old Johnston man after a Sept. 12 police chase that wound through several local communities. According to police reports, Andrew Clay was a passenger in the vehicle driven by Nicholas Winfield, 21, of Cranston, who is the son of a Scituate town councilman. Following the Sept. 12 chase, Johnston Police charged Clay with felony charges of breaking and entering; larceny; and conspiracy. Clay also faces one misdemeanor count of violating a no-contact order brought by Scituate Police; one felony count each of breaking and entering, larceny, and conspiracy brought by Foster Police; and one count of resisting arrest brought by the Rhode Island State Police. …
