EVENT OF THE DAY: Get To The Library, Ye Scallywags

It's Pirate Day at the Marian Mohr Memorial Library.

AARRRGGGHHH! It's Pirate Day at the Marian J. Mohr Memorial Library, 1 Memorial Ave. Learn to talk like pirate, play pin-the parrot-on the pirate, get a pirate face, search for treasure and more. The After School Adventures program is every Wednesday at 4:30 pm. It runs for five weeks, then a short break and starts up again. Register for the program at 231-4980 Press 5. The program is free and open to all.

EVENT OF THE DAY: [Late] Summer Reading

Discuss "That Summer in Sicily," by Marlena de Blasi tonight at the Mohr Library.

The weather may be turning cooler, but it's not too late to catch up on some summer reading. The Marian J. Mohr Memorial Library, 1 Memorial Ave., is hosting its (Late) Summer Reading Program for Adults tonight at 5 p.m. Tonight's discussion will be of That Summer in Sicily, by Marlena de Blasi. The fourth in a series of memoirs by the American writer, That Summer is a blend of personal narrative and the telling of a larger story about people de Blasi met on a 1995 trip to Italy. New to the world of e-readinfg and looking for some help? The Marian J. Mohr Memorial Library, 1 Memorial Ave., is here to help. If you need help working your iPod, iPad, Nook or other electronic device, stop by Mohr this morning from 10 to 11:30 a.m. for an E-Zone Help Drop-In Session with the Ocean State Library's E-Zone. Mohr Library hosts gaming for high school and middle school students today.

Got bored kids who were expecting to be in school looking for something to do today? Send them to the library. High school and middle school students are welcome at the Marian J. Mohr Memorial Library, 1 Memorial Ave., between 4 and 8 p.m. today to play the Wii and/or Xbox 360 together in the Andrew Greene Young Adults Room. EVENT OF THE DAY: Rewards of Reading

The Mohr Library will host an end-of-summer bash for summer reading program participants.

Several Johnston teens have been dedicated to keeping their minds stimulated through the long dog days of summer, and ow they're being rewarded for their efforts. The Marian J. Mohr Memorial Library, 1 Memorial Ave., is hosting an end-of-summer bash to mark the conclusion of this year's summer reading club. The party will include food, fun and music — once again from Mohr’s resident D.J. Miikey B. Thos who qualify will have a stake in the raffle to determine the summer's grand prize winner.
