Johnston Bus Company Issues Route Updates

First Student released its revised bus schedule this week — here's how to check whether your kid's route has changed.

  The bus company for the Johnston School Department, First Student Transportation, released a revised bus route list, reflecting updated enrollments in local schools and other changes made to the schedules issued last week. To determine whether your child's route has changed: 1. Click on one of the links below to find your child's bus route: 2. Find your child's bus number. 3. Check the bus number against the .pdf attached to this article. For questions or more information, contact First Student at (401) 944-5880.    Parents of children with doctors' notes or information about who may pick up their students must resubmit this information to First Student, located on Green Earth Way in Johnston.

When Do Schools Open in Johnston?

Here are the opening and dismissal times for Johnston public schools, as well as well as our links to bus routes.

  Just in case you've been hiding under a rock — or, if you're lucky, just getting back to reality after a late summer vacation — Johnston Public Schools are scheduled to open the 2012-13 school year tomorrow, Aug. 29. The Early Childhood Center [located in the back of Nicholas A. Ferri Middle School] and Graniteville School start at 8:15 am for all-day and morning Kindergarten classes; 11:45 am for afternoon Kindergarten. Dismissal at the ECE and Graniteville are 11 am for the morning session and 2:35 pm for all-day and afternoon students. Elementary start times are 9:05 am for Sarah Dyer Barnes; Brown Avenue; Thornton Elementary; and Winsor Hill. Dismissal is at 3:20 pm. Ferri Middle School starts at 7:45 am and dismisses at 2:03 pm, …
