There's just 18 days until Christmas — and there's lots of holiday-related news in today's 5 Things.

  Johnston Weather: Holiday Events: Johnston Memorial Park and the Johnston Senior Center are hosting events on Saturday — the park has the Holiday Festival scheduled for noon to 3 pm, and the Johnston Police Explorers are setting up their craft fair at the Senior Center from 9 am to 4 pm. And, even though it's not holiday-related, there's also the dedication of the new Johnston High School Athletic Walk of Fame scheduled for 10 am. Hope For Sun — And Get Out To Help The Explorers

The Johnston Police Explorers Post #405 is scheduled to host a car and motorcycle show today — the third attempt this year.

You've probably seen the young men and women in gray shirts and black pants at recent community events in Johnston like the Apple Festival — those are members of the Johnston Police Explorers Post #405. Today beginning at 8 a.m., there's a chance to give some help to the young people who provide so much support to the town, as the Explorers host their First Annual Car and Motorcycle Show at Memorial Park — hopefully. The last two attempts at holding the show — on June 12 and August 14 — were rained out, forcing organizers to move the event to today. Johnston Recreation Events: June 11-12

Two Johnston Police-sponsored events and Little League games are on this weekend's schedule.

Saturday, June 11: Johnston Police IBPO Local 307 is scheduled to host its annual Family Fun Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A great family event that will feature refreshments, music, children's games,  face painting, and inflatable amusements. Proceeds from the event will benefit several local charities. $10 admission; children under 12 are free. Johnston Little League Farm Minors: At 9 :30 a.m., the Rockies play the New York Yankees at Susi Field.  Farm Majors : All games are scheduled to play at Susi Field.
