The Johnston Grays beat the Ocean State Dogs with a walk-off run in the ninth inning on July 19.
The Johnston Grays secured a hard-fought 11-10 win during an intense game on July 19 at Cimilore Field against the Ocean State Dogs — a nearly exact repeat of the teams' June 29 contest, with one team nailing own the game with a late score. This time, the back-and-forth battle ended with the Grays hitting a walk-off run in the bottom of the ninth, giving them the win and improving their record to 6-18 in the Rhode Island Independent Amateur Baseball League. Early defense by both teams kept the scoreboard blank through the first inning. Johnston's Kevin Barber posted the Grays' first score in the bottom of the second, and the Dogs responded in the visitors' half of the third when catcher Greg Nugent hit a pop-fly that hit Grays' third …

Johnston Grays play two straight against the East Providence Knights, losing by only two runs in the first game.
The Johnston Grays played a double header on July 16 at Providence Country Day School against the East Providence Knights, dropping both contests — but not after putting up a serious fight in the early game. Knights' Jeff Kolb took the mound for the first game. For the Grays, Ilya Menyaylov pitched his first game since an arm injury in May, following a game where he gave up just one run in seven innings against Tom Ready & Sons Excavating. Grays Chris Castiglioni hit an RBI to right field during the second inning of the early game, bringing home Andrew McKeon to start the game off 1-0. The Knights' Bill Letizia responded with an RBI single to right to tie the score 1-1 in the home half of the second, but was thrown out trying to turn it …

The local squad tied the game 2-2 before the Pawtucket offense got going.
The Johnston Grays had another game against a tough team July 9, this time on their home turf at Woodlake Park. The Grays — one of two Johnston teams in the Rhode Island Amateur Baseball League — played the Pawtucket Bombers (9-7), who previously defeated the Grays on May 22. The Bombers scored two quick runs to lead off the game, and the Grays (2-15) responded in the bottom of the second on a Nathan Camara 2-run homer to tie the score at 2-2. In the fifth, the Grays got as close as 5-4 before the Bombers cranked up their offense — including two home runs by J.C. MacDonald, one of the league's top 10 HR hitters — to take the lead 9-4 and eventually tack on nine more en route to the 18-5 win. The next game for the Grays is scheduled for …

Local amateur baseball squad drops fifth straight with 12-0 loss to Premium Tile.
The Johnston Grays had another tough game on July 7 as they played third-place team in the Rhode Island Amateur Baseball League, Premium Tile (11-3) at Cilimore field in Westerly. The game started with two scoreless innings, with the only threat on Premium Tile's JJ Sorrenson walk and steal of second base. Grays pitcher Ben Tavares struck out the next two batters, and induced the inning ending ground ball to Gray's second baseman Robert Kazarian. At the bottom of the third, things took a turn for the worse for Grays pitcher Ben Tavares. After a lead-off single to center field by Premium Tile's John Padula, left fielder John Jacobellis ripped a RBI triple to right center field to put Premium Tile on the board with a score of 1-0. A suicide …
