Police Beat: Leaving the Scene, Assault on a Cop, Warrant

Recent incidents and arrests reported by Johnston Police.

LEAVING THE SCENE A 21-year-old Johnston woman was charged with leaving the scene of an accident after she allegedly changed her mind about going to Taco Bell and smashed into another car when she made an abrupt u-turn on Hartford Avenue, leaving behind her bumper – complete with license plate –  and a hit-and-run victim. According to police, Ashley Cote, 21, of 283 Borden Ave., Johnston, was en-route to Taco Bell, driving in front of a car driven by a N. Attleborough, Mass., woman along Hartford Avenue. Near Robert Corio Jewelers, Cote reportedly changed her mind about the fast food and “suddenly pulled a U-turn” by pulling into the parking lot of the jewelers and back onto Hartford Avenue at a high rate of speed, according to an accident…

Police Log: July 5 to July 8

This is a summary of reports provided to JohnstonPatch by the Johnston Police Department and found on the RI State Police website for July 5 to July 8. It does not indicate a conviction.

Hit and Run Johnston Police Officers Derrick Palazzo and Dana Gousie responded to a call regarding a car accident at the intersection of Bishop Hill Road and East Woodhaven Drive on July 6. The accident occurred at 12:46 a.m. When the officers arrived the utility pole on the east side of the intersection was severed from the base and the driver had left the scene, according to the police report. Gousie located part of the car’s silver fender at the scene. About 20 minutes later a caller reported a car parked on the front lawn of 29 Pine Hill Road. The car was located behind a large bush. Patrolman Adam Catamero responded to Pine Hill Road and located a 2009 Pontiac G6 with damage to the front passenger side. The owner of the car, Jessica S…
