Strong Winds Friday Could Cause Power Outages

Wind gusts of up to 50 mph are expected all day, which could knock down tree limbs and cause power outages.

Winds could gust to 50 miles per hour on Friday, taking down small tree limbs and branches that could cause power outages, the National Weather Service (NWS) warned in a statement posted at 4:30 a.m. A wind advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. until midnight on Friday; wind advisories are issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31 to 39 miles per hour or with gusts ranging between 46 and 57 miles per hour. The NWS said southern New England will see sustained winds blowing 20 to 30 miles per hour to the southwest on Friday, with gusts up to 50 miles per hour.
