Weather Service Issues Flood Watch for Rhode Island
A flood watch is in effect from 5 p.m. Wednesday to Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service (Taunton) has issued a flood watch for Rhode Island and parts of Connecticut and Massachusetts, in effect starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Wednesday's rains will continue through the afternoon, with higher rates of rainfall expected overnight as another 1.5 to 2 inches of rain is predicted to fall after sundown. Flooding is anticipated in urban areas, areas with poor drainage and in small streams. Forecasters are also predicting a "minor rise" in the height of the Pawtuxet River, though expect it to remain below the flood stage. The flood watch will be in effect until Thursday morning.
