No-Seatbelt Stop Results in Two Arrests

Johnston Police charged Myles Manzi, 19, with drug and weapons possession, and arrested Anthony Taylor, 20, on an active court warrant.

  A local resident faces drug and weapons possession charges after Johnston Police report they stopped his vehicle because his passenger, who had an active court warrant for his arrest, was not wearing his seatbelt. Myles Manzi, 19, of 54 Lyman Ave., is scheduled to appear in Third District Court on July 11 on misdemeanor counts of marijuana possession; driving in possession of drugs; and possession of weapons, in this case, steak knives with blades longer than 3 in. Manzi is also scheduled for a July 20 trial on charges of vandalism and throwing objects at cars brought by Rhode Island State Police following his arrest in Johnston on May 14. Ptlm. I see this as an argument "for" the seatbelt law. One more idiot off the road for a little while, anyway. Smoking dope and riding around with big knives. Can't lead to anything productive (see his prior arrest). And it's a good example of the BS that PO's have to deal with every day. Harassed by the mother and the girlfriend while making the arrest. Violation of no-contact order: On Jan. 9, Johnston Police charged Jonathan Frezza, 22, of Attleboro, MA, with violating a no-contact order after his arrest by West Warwick police on a warrant issued by Third District Court in March, 2011. According to police reports, the mother of the victim contacted Johnston Police on March 13, 2011, after she learned that Frezza had been at a party attended by her daughter in apparent violation of the no-contact order. Officers tried to find Frezza but were unsuccessful, Ptlm. Kevin Brady reported at the time. Bicyclist strikes car: Johnston Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a bicyclist on Oct. 28 around 3 p.m. The driver of the Toyota involved in the collision told Ptlm. Jeffrey Fryer he was exiting the parking lot at 1757 Plainfield St, when a car stopped so he could pull out of the parking lot. Before he moved his car forward, the cyclist struck his car, according to the report. The bicycle rider, Christian Bourdon, told Fryer his view was obstructed by a parked car, and he did not see the Toyota. Bourdon's bike kit the front bumper of the car, and Bourdon suffered an injury to his lower left leg. Possession of marijuana: Johnston Police charged Monique D. Suspects Sought In Theft: A worker at Weeks Marine on Industrial Lane told Johnston Police on Oct. 4 that two heavy-duty batteries from a front-end loader were missing. Timothy MacDougall, of Goffstown, NH, told officers the batteries were worth about $120 each. Fake Oxycodone Prescription: Police arrested Robert Rose, of 217 Lenox Ave., Providence, on a felony charge of using a forged prescription and two outstanding court warrants on Oct. 4 after Rose allegedly tried to get Oxycodone from the CVS pharmacy at 1400 Hartford Ave. According to Ptlm. Joseph McGinn's report, Rose went into the pharmacy at about 6:30 p.m. and gave the pharmacist a prescription that turned out to be fake. The pharmacist reportedly called the doctor listed on the…
