Tax Bills Lead to Town Hall Tirade, Disorderly Conduct Charges

A Coventry man landed in some hot water after scaring employees of the tax collector's office when he became irate over his water and sewer bills.

A Coventry man angry about his town of Johnston water and sewer bills was arrested for disorderly conduct after he allegedly screamed at a town employee in Town Hall, banged the counter and threw dollar bills in the employee’s face. According to a police report, Joseph A. DiMuccio, 64, of 20 Twin Lakes Ave., Coventry, became angry about the amount he owed, and his alleged outburst frightened employees in the tax collector’s office enough that one of them pushed the panic alarm and Mayor Joseph Polisena walked into the office to see what the commotion was about. Police said the incident was recorded on video surveillance. DiMuccio was arraigned and pleaded not guilty to the charge on Feb. 6. He is due to appear in Third Division District …

Johnston Man Charged After Swearing at Officer

Scott Bolton, 30, had been ordered to leave a home on Greenville Avenue after the homeowner called police.

  After being advised to leave a Greenville Avenue home, a Johnston man swore at a police officer, drawing a disorderly conduct charge, Johnston Police reported this week. Ptlm. Adam Parkinson reported that he found Scott Bolton, 30, at the home just past midnight on Sept. 24 after the homeowner called police and said that Bolton had been "banging on the windows and doors." When he and three other officers arrived at the scene, Parkinson wrote, Bolton tried to hide behind a boat in the driveway. Bolton appeared to be trying "to conceal his hands in his pockets and acting [in a] very fidgety manner," leading officers to frisk him for possible weapons, Parkinson noted. Truck Batteries Stolen: Johnston Police Patrolman Jared DeAngelis responded to a call reporting stolen truck batteries at 85 Putnam Pike on Aug. 5. The complainant told DeAngelis that around 3 a.m. on Aug. 5, a suspect or suspects stole two batteries from a truck parked at the Putnam Pike location. The complainant also told DeAngelis that one of his workers allegedly saw tools in a plastic bag near the same truck around 3 a.m., according to DeAngelis’ report. Domestic assault on pregnant girlfriend: Police arrested Jeffrey J. Sanchez, of 20 Vacca St., on a charge of domestic simple assault and battery, larceny under $500, domestic disorderly conduct, and two outstanding bench warrants on Aug. 5. This is a summary of reports provided to Johnston Patch by the Johnston Police Department for Feb. 15 to Feb. 18, 2011.

Disorderly conduct arrest Johnston Police Capt. Robert Menard and Patrolman Luca Lancellotti Jr. responded to the Hess Gas Station on Plainfield Street Tuesday, Feb. 15 around 6:45 p.m. for a report of an intoxicated man causing a disturbance. When the officers arrived, witnesses told them that a man was asking people for money and cigarettes. The man allegedly caused a scene by screaming and yelling at someone who said they didn’t have any cigarettes. The man then left the area walking west on Plainfield Street. Menard and Lancellotti caught up with the man, later identified as Gerald Bergevine. Lancellotti stated in his report that he could “detect a strong scent of an alcoholic beverage emanating from (Bergevine’s) breath.” When the …
