Johnston's Deputy Chief Selected Chief Sheriff for Rhode Island

The following was provided by the Rhode Island State Police

  Colonel Steven G. O'Donnell, Superintendent, of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of Public Safety, announces today that David M. DeCesare, of Johnston, has been appointed as the new Chief Sheriff for the Rhode Island Division of Sheriffs. Deputy Chief DeCesare is a 24-year veteran of the Johnston Police Department, and has served as second-in-command since June 2009. He is also the Emergency Management Director for the Town of Johnston and previously served as Interim Director of the Johnston Fire Department. Deputy Chief DeCesare has received numerous commendations and letters of recognition throughout his career, including the Medal of Valor, which is the highest award bestowed on a Johnston Police Officer for bravery and…
