Sewer Project Stops Thru Traffic on Central Ave. in Johnston

The work is part of a $4 million project funded by Rhode Island Resource Recovery.

  Construction crews were busy installing a new sewer line along Central Avenue near the I-295 overpass, closing the road to travel from Atwood Avenue to Reservoir Avenue, as part of a $4 million project funded by Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation. Looking to get around the traffic on Central Avenue? Follow these alternate routes: The work to install a new 12-in. sewer line began in July following a ceremony attended by Gov. Lincoln Chafee, and crews have been steadily working their way east on Central Avenue. On Friday morning, backhoes were in action, covering one part of the roadway with dirt prior to paving and digging a trench in another area for installation of the sewer line.
