Johnston homeowner doesn't lock door, comes home from work to find money and prescription drugs missing.
One Johnston homeowner is regretting not locking his door and Johnston Police detectives are investigating a robbery on Old Pocasset Road during which the culprit stole $1,400 cash and six bottles of prescription drugs. Police said the victim discovered the crime June 1 when he came home around 2:30 pm. In the bedroom, the $1,400 in $100 bills was stolen from a dresser, according to a police report. Six bottles of prescription methadone were taken from a small safe under the bed that the victim couldn't confirm was locked or not. Socks and clothes were on the floor near the dresser, suggesting the culprit rummaged around looking for more money or drugs. The victim told police he had no idea who could have committed the crime. MARIJUANA A 25-year-old Johnston man was charged with marijuana possession Dec. 28 after a routine traffic stop sparked by an officer noticing his passenger wasn’t wearing a seat belt. According to police, Richard A. Naud, of 26 Victor Ave., was stopped while driving his Ford Mustang because his passenger was unbuckled. The officer reportedly smelled marijuana when he approached the vehicle. A check of Naud’s information showed he was wanted on an active Superior Court bench warrant for failing to appear on a drug possession charge. Naud was asked to exit his vehicle.
