Johnston Police charged a 23-year-old woman with assault after she allegedly cut her boyfriend with a razor blade. According to police, officers were dispatched to Bianca Jo Martinelli's house at 58 Walnut St. last Monday and found her boyfriend outside banging on the window. Police said the boyfriend was covered with blood and had a cut on his arm. The boyfriend told police that he used a cell phone to call police but his girlfriend took the phone from him and told him to "clean up" before the police go there. Police said Martinelli was being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston after she was unable to post $25,000 bail.

MARIJUANA A 25-year-old Johnston man was charged with marijuana possession Dec. 28 after a routine traffic stop sparked by an officer noticing his passenger wasn’t wearing a seat belt. According to police, Richard A. Naud, of 26 Victor Ave., was stopped while driving his Ford Mustang because his passenger was unbuckled. The officer reportedly smelled marijuana when he approached the vehicle. A check of Naud’s information showed he was wanted on an active Superior Court bench warrant for failing to appear on a drug possession charge. Naud was asked to exit his vehicle.
