Johnston Woman Among Six Arrested at Former Ladd School Property

Rhode Island State Police charged six people with trespassing after their arrest on Sunday night.

  A 25-year-old Johnston woman was among six people arrested Sunday night for trespassing on the former Ladd School property in Exeter, the Rhode Island State Police reported. Troopers from the State Police Wickford Barracks arrested Vanessa Paiano, 25, of 36 Hill Drive, at about 10:15 pm. Also charged with one count each of willful trespass were: Officers presented the suspects for arraignment at the Wickford Barracks and released them until court hearings to be scheduled.

Johnston Police Log: Tree Falls on Car

The following reports were provided by the Johnston Police Department. Where an arrest is noted, it does not indicate a conviction.

  Tree falls on car: Johnston Police Ptlm. John DeAngelis reported that he responded to Cherry Hill Road at Old Cherry Hill Road on Oct. 14 at about 3 pm for a fallen tree in the roadway. After placing his cruiser to block traffic and diverting cars to Old Cherry Hill Road, DeAngelis wrote that he spoke with Toni Achilli, 26, of Jasmine Lane, whose car had been struck by the tree. Achilli said she was driving her 2009 Ford Escape eastbound on Cherry Hill when she saw the tree falling and tried to drive under it. The tree hit the windshield and roof of the truck, causing minor damage, DeAngelis reported. Expired license arrest: Ptlm. Car Accident Leads To Charges: Johnston Police arrested David Silva, of North Providence, on one count of driving with a suspended license on Jan. 27 following a car accident on Greenville Avenue. A passenger in his vehicle was also arrested on an active court warrant. Ptlm. John DeAngelis reported that he found two cars on the westbound side of the road at about 3:30 p.m. Lisa Coutu, of Johnston, told DeAngelis that she had been approaching an intersection when the 1998 Nissan driven by Silva collided with her SUV. Both vehicles sustained damage; no injuries were reported. DeAngelis reported that a check on Silva's license showed it to be suspended; a check on his passenger, Brian Carosi, found that he had a court warrant for failure to …

Assault Suspect Charged: Johnston Police charged Juan Cuellar, 35, of 33 Aspen Way, Warwick, with simple assault or battery, disorderly conduct, and obstructing an officer in the execution of duty on Nov. 26 after Cuellar, a suspect in a Nov. 15 fight at Club Bebeto, turned himelf in to polce headquarters. According to police, Cuellar was one of three men who allegedly assaulted Jamie Baldomar outside the club and fled the scene before police arrived. He was arraigned and released on $2,000 personal recognizance with a court date of Dec. 7. Disorderly Conduct: Johnston Police arrested Christy Boisvert, 31, of 20 Park St., on a charge of disorderly conduct on Nov. 26. Police Log: Aug. 13 to Aug. 16

Possession of marijuana: Johnston Police arrested David M. Medina, 21, on a charge of possession of marijuana, first offense and driving in possession of a controlled substance on Aug. 14. Medina's vehicle passed by Ptlm. Joseph Salvadore as he was on patrol in the area of Killingly Street and Greenville Avenue, Salvadore pulled over Medina for the dark tint on his car windows. As Salvadore spoke with Medina, the officer reported, the he could smell a marijuana odor allegedly coming from inside the vehicle. Medina was ordered out of the car and when asked if he had weapons or illegal narcotics on him, Medina responded: “Yo, I don’t know. Find out,” according to Salvadore’s report.
