He's A 'Reel' Leader In URI Film Collaborative

Daniel Larsh, a URI student, founded the Film Collaborative last November to give students opportunities in film.

Danny Larsh, a Johnston High School alumnus, class of 2009, has always had his eyes behind a viewfinder. Constantly drawn to all aspects of film, Larsh founded the University of Rhode Island Film Collaborative during his sophomore year of college. “The URI Film Collaborative is a student film organization at URI. We welcome students across all disciplines and want to provide students with the opportunity to think creatively, collaborate with other members and produce quality work,” Larsh said. The URIFC also reaches out to various academic departments and student groups at the university to assist with their filmmaking needs. Johnston Alum On Way To Egypt

Before leaving to visit family in Egypt, Nabil Samuel offered his perspective on why President Hosni Mubarak should resign.

Nabil Samuel is a 2005 graduate of the Johnston High School. Nabil, being of Egyptian descent, has been closely watching the unfolding events in his home country. Last night, Samuel was on his way to Egypt, to visit with his grandmother and get a better handle on the situation on the ground. JohnstonPatch was able to speak with Samuel prior to his departure to get his perspective on President Hosni Mubarak and why, in Samuel’s mind, Mubarak should stand down from the presidency now. Egyptians have been staging street protests since Jan. 25, repeatedly calling for Mubarak's resignation.
