The Johnston School Department includes a high school, middle school, four elementary schools and an early childhood center. According to the Rhode Island Department of Education, 3,100 students attend Johnston Schools.
Grades 1 through 5 are housed at the four elementary schools, with pre-K and Kindergarten centralized at the Early Childhood Center; grades 6, 7, and 8 at Ferri Middle School, and grades 9 through 12 at the high schools.
Superintendent Bernard DiLullo, a former assistant principal at Ferri and principal at Sara Dyer Barnes Elementary, was appointed to his current position in March 2010.
