Greater RI Baptist Temple

The Greater RI Baptist Temple was built in 1981, but the congregation began worshiping together in 1975, when Pastor Thomas G. Crichton and his family moved from Michigan to Johnston and began holding services here.

Crichton began holding services at the Pied Piper Nursery School in Johnston, according to the church's website. By the fall of that year, the group had grown and moved to a school in North Scituate, where they worshipped for five years. By 1981, the worshipers had moved to their current location in the newly built temple.

The reach of the church's various ministries stretches throughout New England, and the worshipers are actively seeking new members for its 200-strong group. Members of the church are also encouraged to perform outreach in the course of their daily lives.
