Johnston Weekend: Evening Movies, Disney Songs

What are you doing this weekend in Johnston?

The forecast for Johnston calls for for a chance of thunderstorms on Friday with clearing on Saturday and Sunday — so get out and enjoy some of these great events.

It's perfect apple-picking season — so be sure to visit apple orchards near Johnston and stock up.

The nighttime weather should be nice for going to the Rustic Tri-Vue Drive-In for its shows on Friday and Saturday nights.

Here's the line-up for Sept. 13 and 14:

  • Kick-Ass 2 [R] with Riddick [R]
  • Insidious 2 [PG-13] with We're the Millers [R]
  • Planes [PG] with Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters [PG]
$25 per car load. Gate opens at 6, shows start around 7:40 p.m.

If you're looking for future stars, check out the Young Actors Academy performing cabaret on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. at the Stadium Theatre in Woonsocket.

They'll be performing well-known tunes from Disney movies and musicals.

Online tickets are $36. Online orders require $4 additional fee.

Also in Woonsocket, Chan's Fine Oriental Dining hosts Anthony Gomes on Friday night, Steve Broderick and the 100 Watt Suns with Longshot Voodoo opening on Saturday night, and the Mark Hummel All-Stars on Sunday night.

Online tickets are $20 for Anthony Gomes, $12 for Steve Broderick, and $25 for Mark Hummel. 8 p.m. showtimes on Friday and Saturday, 7 p.m. Sunday.
