Donation sites for food and toys; DST ends; football game; the Mayor's Cup soccer tourney; and today in history: The Gipper wins.

Collections: The Johnston Early Childhood Centers at Ferri Middle School and Graniteville School are accepting donations of food items in their effort to fill 20 baskets for local families. The Alan Shawn Feinstein Foundation will also chip in $1 for every item donated. It's also time for the annual Toys for Tots drive — and the Bridge at Cherry Hill assisted living residence is an official site for toy collection this year. Bring new, unwrapped toys to the facilty between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Fall Back: Daylight savings time will end this Sunday, Nov. 6 at 2 a.m. so remember to set your clocks back one hour.

Gridiron Clash: In their second-to-last regular season game, the Johnston High School football Panthers host Shea High School tonight at 7 p.m.

Battle On The Pitch: Also tonight at 7, at the Soccer Complex behind JHS, Mayor Joseph Polisena and his hand-picked squad are set to face a team of rec soccer coaches for the rights to the Mayor's Cup. The mayor's team fell, 7-4, last year, and are looking for some payback.

Landslide: On this date in 1980, Ronald Reagan soundly defeated Jimmy Carter in the U.S. Presidential race.
