What's Happening This Weekend in Johnston?

It's Memorial Day weekend — check out the slate of events in and around Johnston.

This weekend marks the unofficial beginning of summer — Monday is Memorial Day.

And while the forecast is for rain through the weekend with temps in the upper 50s, with sun finally peeking through on Monday, we've got a list of indoor and outdoor activities to check out, no matter the weather.

Friday, May 24:

  • 8 pm: Ghost Tour starting at Prospect Terrace in Providence. Take a walking tour of the darkened streets of the historic East Side and see what happens. $18. Also May 25 at 8 pm

Saturday, May 25:

  • 10 am: Spring Walk at Lincoln Woods, 600 Great Road, Lincoln. The Rhode Island Wold Plant Society hosts today's stroll through the foliage. $5 members/$10 nonmembers.
  • 2 pm: Reading of 'Where the Sidewalk Ends' at Marian J. Mohr Library. The 'reading of a lifetime' of the Silverstein classic. For the whole family. Free.
  • Note: The Memorial Day ceremony in Johnston scheduled for 9:30 am has been cancelled.

Sunday, May 26:

  • 10 am: 5th Annual Motorcycle Run in Memory of Brad & Rosie (Sabitoni) Randall, at the Rosario Hall in Silver Lake. Ride to Music Lady in Connecticut and return for a buffet at 5 pm. $25 per person to benefit Meeting Street School.

Monday, May 27:

  • 10:30 am: Memorial Day Ceremony at Deerfield Park in Smithfield. The Smithfield Senior Center is also collecting new socks, shirts and underwear for Operation Stand Down RI, located in Johnston.
