On May 1, the Johnston Little League instructional program formally kicked off its season at Kennedy Field at .

The instructional program consists of 40 boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 7. Players on the two instructional teams learn the fundamentals of baseball: hitting, fielding, catching and throwing.

The Instructional League season runs until the second week of June.
