Fun Drives CVS Charity Classic Opening

The 15th CVS Caremark Charity Classic opened Monday at Rhode Island Country Club in Barrington with the always popular opening ceremony at the 18th green.

Hundreds of golf fans filled the stands around the green to watch emcee Dan Hicks, the voice of NBC golf, introduce the 20 pros playing in the tourney, including founders Brad Faxon of Barrington and Billy Andrade of Bristol.

Then they were treated to a skills competition that had each two-golfer team take turns hitting a shot out of a bunker to a flagstick, try their hands at a 10-foot putt and drive golf balls through a target.

Long-drive champion and trick shot artist Jamie Sadlowski then closed the opening ceremony with some long wallops from the green.
