Ewing Defeats Castiglione in State Tourney at Town Hall Lanes

Back-to-back strikes made the difference in the Rhode Island Duckpin Bowlers Association Tournament finals, held Aug. 23 to 25 at Town Hall Lanes in Johnston.

A late surge in the 8th and 9th frames propelled Brian Ewing to a 166-140 victory over Chris Castiglioni in the Rhode Island Duckpin Bowlers Association Tournament held at Town Hall Lanes in Johnston on Aug. 23 to 25.

Following three early spares, Ewing clung to a 5-pin advantage, 91-86, after the 7th, according to the scorecard posted on the RIDBA Facebook page.

Castiglione followed a 5th-frame spare with a strike to draw within striking distance, but Ewing went strike-strike-8 and capped the game by clearing the deck to secure a 32-pin non-handicapped win. Counting handicaps, Ewing's lead lost two pins but still secured the win.
