5 Things To Know Today: July 27

Another busy day at Mohr Library; blood drive in Greenville; Junior Little League tourney continues; summer music at Garden City; and today in history: LA Games.

Full Slate At Mohr: Marian J. Mohr Library offers four programs today:

Give A Pint: The Rhode Island Blood Center makes a stop at the Newport Creamery at 586 Putnam Pike in Greenville from 3 to 8 p.m. today. And if you can't make it today, the Blood Center has a special gift for all donors tomorrow — but I'm not telling what it is yet.

Winner Faces Johnston: That's the story line for tonight's Junior Little League tournament game between East Greenwich and Glocester, starting at 6 p.m. at Memorial Park. The winners will face on July 29 for the state title.

Tunes At Garden City: The Citizens Bank Summer Music Series continues tonight at 6 p.m. with Disco Inferno. Can you feel the heat?

Olympiad: On this date in 1984, the XXIII Olympics (that's 23rd, for those who don't read Roman numerals) opened in Los Angeles.

Correction: Oops! The 1984 Olympics opened on July 28, not the 27th. Apologies for the error.
