Earlier this year, Johnston High School celebrated its 50th graduating class — and today, they'll be the youngest alumni invited back to celebrate Homecoming, scheduled to begin at 10 am with the parade of class floats.If you're planning to attend today's ceremonies — which also include breakfast at 11 am and the big football game at 1:30 — here's what you need to know.

What: Johnston High School Homecoming

Where: Johnston High School, Cherry Hill Road

When:

  • Class floats arrive, 8:30 am
  • Homecoming Parade, 10 am
  • Homecoming Breakfast, 11 am to noon
  • Homecoming Football Game, 1:30 pm
  • Homecoming Dance, 8 to 11 pm

Parade Route: The class floats are scheduled to leave the high school parking lot, head down Atwood Avenue toward Johnston Town Hall, turn right onto Hartford Avenue, and proceed to Johnston Memorial Park. Once at the park, the parade continues up Memorial Avenue back to the high school.

Football Game: Johnston's undefeated varsity football squad takes the field for a Homecoming contest against the 4-4 Warwick Veterans High School Hurricanes [which may or may not be an omen for next week, depending on the outcome]. The Panthers are ranked number 5 in the state in the most recent Rhode Island High School Football Poll; Vets is listed at number 20.
