Video: Visiting Tiverton Deals Johnston 4-0 Loss

The boys' varsity soccer squad didn't have any answers for the Tiverton offense.

Tiverton's boys soccer team traveled to to take on the Panthers on Sept. 15. The field was in slick condition, as it had rained for about an hour prior to the match. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the first minute and never looked back, winning it 4-0.

Tigers senior Andrew Kinnane blasted home a rebound opportunity, giving his team a 1-0 lead about forty seconds into the game. Getting out to an early lead was part of Tiverton's strategy.

Throughout the first half of play, Tiverton possessed the ball about 60 percent  of the time, but they were not dominating the action. With about three minutes left in the half, Kinnane stole the ball in the penalty area and dribbled to his left foot. He rippped the shot far post, finding the back of the net again, increasing the lead to 2-0.

The Tigers absolutely dominated the second half. They possessed the ball for at least 80% of the time and had the ball in their offensive zone for a majority of the half. They created multiple scoring chances and applied heavy pressure on Johnston's keeper.

Kinnane's performance on Thursday afternoon was impressive, as he finished with 2 goals and an assist. About 20 minutes into the second half he juggled the ball at midfield and headed it towards Johnston's goal, placing a perfect through ball to junior Matthew Platt. Platt's shot struck the post and slid into the goal, as Tiverton's lead grew to 4-0. That would be the final score of the game.
