St. Rocco School Gets New Principal

Lorraine Moschella started in her new position on Oct. 3, the Diocese of Providence announced.

In a press release issued Oct. 5, the Diocese of Providence announced that Lorraine Moschella, who most recently served as principal of L. McGuire School in North Providence, has been named the new principal of .

Moschella succeeds Magdalen Chianese, who left the position just before the end of the school year in June.

“As a parent who has personally observed the benefits of a Catholic education, I am pleased with this appointment to serve St. Rocco Parish, school parents and students,” Moschella is quoted as saying in the release. “I have long appreciated the spirit and charity that a parochial education offers and feel it is a natural progression of my professional and spiritual life to be drawn to a career as a principal in the Diocese of Providence.”

Moschella's career includes work as a special education teacher in Providence, and appointments to two principalships in North Providence schools. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Psychology from Rhode Island College, as well as Master's degrees in Special Education and School Administration.
