Sports Brief: Panthers Strike Again, Defeat Tolman 5-0

Gian Bianchi pitches a strong game as JHS produces 5 runs on 13 hits.

On just four days' rest, junior starting pitcher Gian Bianchi turned in another dominating performance on April 25 as the Panthers defeated Tolman High School, 5-0, at McCoy Stadium. Johnston continued its consecutive win streak, bringing their season record to 8-0.

The Panther offense produced 5 runs on 13 hits, including an early two-run shot by senior captain Greg Doutre that cleared the 325-foot left field wall in the top of the first inning that made the score 3-0. Leadoff hitter, junior Chris Pistacchio, tallied the initial score for Johnston on a single by senior catcher Ryan Geraghty.

Pistacchio scored again in the top of the fifth off Geraghty's sacrifice fly, and Bianchi crossed the plate for the 5-0 final score on senior Nick Loffredo's hit to left field.
