Photo Gallery: First Day Of School [Finally!]
Students at Thornton Elementary and St. Rocco's School arrived for their first day of school, which had been rescheduled from last week.
On Sept. 6, Johnston students went back to school. They were originally scheduled to go back on Aug. 31, but school officials postponed the start date because of continued power outages and concerns about transporting students.
As the early morning rain fell, children and their parents — armed with rain coats, umbrellas and backpacks — marched into the school doors to start their new year.
For preschoolers at , it was their first day of school, as the older grades started school on Sept. 1.
