JHS Celebrates 50th Graduating Class

Friday night's ceremonies mark the 50th year of commencement exercises at Johnston High School.

 

This year's graduation ceremonies for will have special significance, as 2012 marks 50 years of graduating classes.

For the first few years of the high school's history, though, students attended double sessions at while the building that currently houses JHS was built.

Prior to 1962, high schoolers in Johnston attended Providence public schools or private schools outside the town.

It will also be Principal Gerald Foley's second commencement at Johnston, following his move to the local school from North Kingstown.

at Providence Performing Arts Center, 220 Weybosset St. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
