Week In Review: Sports, Snow, Tank

It's your weekly wrap-up of the stories that made the news on JohnstonPatch for the week ending March 2.

Sports: They may have wrapped their regular season in uneven fashion (1-1 in the final two), but the Lady Panthers used the home court to their advantage against West Warwick on Feb. 29, recovering from a 9-point deficit at the half to beat the Lady Wizards, 60-56 and advance to the quarterfinals. (Watch Monday for results from Saturday night's game.)

Snow: We had a wintry mess blow through the area on Wednesday night, following the forecast issued by the National Weather Service pretty well.

Tank: In about a month, the town of Johnston is expected to have a new gas filling station up and running at the Johnston Police Department — and we posted our video on Tuesday of the delivery of the 8,000-gal. tank.

Volunteers: We kicked off a new series this week called "Greatest Person," and since the senior center has teams of volunteers, we felt we should give all of them the nod — in our first installment, we featured three folks who help the center's activities staff.
