Week In Review: JNP Bounced; Parking Ban; Vandals Named; Bond Re-Fi

JNP Bounced: No repeat state championship for the local varsity hockey squad — on Monday, we reported that the Johnston-North Providence Cougars fell in two straight against the team they defeated last year for the D-III title, Mt. Hope High School.

Parking Ban: At their meeting Monday night, Johnston Town Councilors formally , in response to Mayor Joseph Polisena's concern that rescue vehicles ay not have been able to get down the street in an emergency because of parents parking in the roadway as they waited for their kids to leave school.

Vandals Named: Mayor Joseph Polisena and Police Chief Richard S. Tamburini on Wednesday . Police also released surveillance video showing the suspects driving across the field at the town's soccer complex.

Bond Re-Fi: Also this week, the town council a, potentially saving $300,000 or more over the next decade. Town Finance Director Joseph Chiodo said the 2004 bonds have about $6.67 million owed on them.
