Trash Collection Delayed One Day

Johnston Town Hall issued the delay notice in advance of Hurricane Irene.

Trash and recycling collection in Johnston will be delayed one day because of .

Mayor Joseph Polisena issued the notice on August 26, prior to the storm reaching Rhode Island on Aug. 28.

To town also issued the following contact information for residents to use in the case of fallen trees or utility wires:

  • Non-medical emergency calls (downed wires, etc.) should be placed to Johnston Police Department at 231-4210.
  • Non-emergency calls (fallen trees, debris) should be placed to Johnston Town Hall at 351-6618. The Department of Public Works had no phone service at about 10 a.m. on Aug. 29.
