The Johnston council is scheduled to meet tonight at 6:30 at the municipal court.

The Johnston Town Council is scheduled to vote tonight on a resolution asking the Rhode Island General Assembly to allow the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation to accept recycling materials from out-of-state, among other items on the agenda, which is attached to this article.

An ordinance that would change the town's Comprehensive Plan to set guidelines for cell towers and antennaes is also scheduled to be heard at the meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. at , 1395 Atwood Ave.

Councilors are also scheduled to meet in executive, or closed, session prior to the public meeting to discuss litigation brought by Pinnacle Towers LLC, a cell tower company, and MetroPCS, a cell phone service provider.

The suit was filed in Rhode Island District Court in Providence in December, 2010, against the Johnston Zoning Board of Review. According to past records of the zoning board, Pinnacle and MetroPCS submitted an application in November, 2010, for six antennae and cables to be installed on an existing shelter at 25 Falmouth St.

According to the agenda published for tonight's meeting —  a copy of the executive meeting agenda is also attached to this article — the town council is scheduled to start the session at 6:30 p.m., then take a vote to close the public portion of the meeting, under Rhode Island General Law 42-46-5, subsection (a) (5), which allows public boards to meet in executive session to discuss legal matters.
