Senior Center Hours Extended

Mayor Polisena has designated the center as a public cooling location.

In a press release issued July 20, Mayor Joseph M. Polisena announced that the will be open extra hours for the next three days to host seniors and people who may suffer health problems due to the for today and tomorrow.

Polisena said in the statement that the senior center's hours will be extended until 7 p.m. through July 23. If the extreme heat continues, the center may be open for additional hours beyond Saturday, he added.

The mayor also said that he is "encouraging seniors and at-risk residents who are without air conditioning to please stay safe, and enjoy the cool environment and the company of others at the Johnston Senior Center."

, another public cooling center, is open until 8 p.m. on Thursday, 9 a.m to 5 p.m. on Friday, and closed on Saturday and Sunday.
