Redistricting Commission To Meet At JHS [Poll]

Local Rep. Stephen R. Ucci is a co-chairman of the legislative panel.

On Oct. 20 at 7 p.m., the state Special Commission on Reapportionment is scheduled to meet at to gather public comment on plans to change the voting districts in Rhode Island.

Billed as a "preliminary public hearing," the session is one of a series being held in each county of the state; Thursday night's scheduled meeting is the one for Providence County.

State Rep. Stephen R. Ucci (D-Cranston, Johnston) is co-chair of the commission, which has met three times earlier in October.

According to a timetable presented by Michael Narducci of the Rhode Island Secretary of State’s Office at the commission's Oct. 4 meeting, the General Assembly is expected to take up the issue of redistricting in February, 2012.
