Poll: Should The State Require Ultrasounds Before Abortion?

Supporters say the bill is to inform; opponents say it is to shame. Where do you stand?

Women would be legally required to have an ultrasound before having an abortion under a bill pending in the General Assembly, the Providence Journal reports.

Doctors would be required to conduct an ultrasound and explain the images to a pregnant woman — including the dimensions of the fetus and any "external members and internal organs if present and viewable" — before performing an abortion, according to a bill filed by Rep. Karen L. MacBeth, D-Cumberland.

MacBeth said the proposal is intended to ensure women have access to all the information before finalizing their decision. But opponents of bill, including Planned Parenthood of Southern New England, say the law is meant to "shame" women to discourage abortion.

So what do you think? Should the state require women to have an ultrasound before an abortion?

Vedder......there is a disconnect between the concept of govt. and that of mega corporate USA......the truth is that everywhere you go the megacorps are moving more and more into controlling everything....using the govt. as a surrogate. The real problem is that slime that would do this to us.

Yeah Mr. Trager, You forget that RI Public Schools are a model of efficiency. Or did you forget that just like you forgot about our military? Do I have to remind you how much better off you are now that there is democracy in Iraq? All this cheap gas and I'm told everyone loves us over there. We're at war in Afghanistan for people like you, not at all because the war is hugely profitable for the military industrial complex. I'm also grateful that my kids can walk down the street in their affluent neighborhood where almost no one at all uses social services. Remember, RI is home to some of the best politicians in the world and they know how to spend your money much better than you do!

Anonymous, I was explaining to Mr Trager, who can actually put a sentence together...see dear you've got to have full use of your faculties to have an exchange.
