Polisena Says He's Ready for Live Chat

The Johnston mayor said the chance to communicate live over JohnstonPatch is "exciting."

Johnston Mayor Joseph Polisena, who's due to participate in our first-ever live chat here on JohnstonPatch beginning at noon today, said during a recent interview that he's looking forward to trying out the format.

"I'm still moving into the computer age, so I think it's phenomenal," Polisena explained. "I'm looking forward to it, because you reach people that may not come to town hall — it's new and exciting, and I'm looking forward to it."

Starting at noon, Polisena will be at to join our Cover It Live chat — which you can find here for easy bookmarking, and to sign up for an email alert once the chat goes online.

The mayor explained he's ready to answer constituent questions — from the big issues to the mundane.

"There are a lot of issues the town has, no doubt about it — you have road repairs, you have drainage issues, and we're attacking them a little bit at a time, Polisena said. "If people have a question about their neighborhood, about what's going on with the town, what's going on with the budget, what's going on with the pension crisis in the town, [or] what do we see for the future of the town, I'd be more than happy to answer their questions — I will answer them clearly and concisely, and if I don't have the answer, I will get back to them, but more than likely I'll have the answer."

Polisena also acknowledged that "it may not be the answer they want to hear, because sometimes, somebody might ask: 'Is my street getting paved this year?' If there's no money to pave it, no — however, we're going to float a $5 million bond that might pave their road next year."

So, get your questions ready for Mayor Polisena — and check back at noon when our chat goes live.

You can also send your question via email to joseph.hutnak@patch.com until the conclusion of the live chat at 1 pm today.
